A BIG WEEK FOR SMEs - “Small Businesses . Big Ideas”

Small and Medium Enterprises
(SMEs) assume a vital role in shaping
the future of the Malaysian economy as key drivers in the country’s economic
transformation process, in line with the goal of attaining
a high-income nation status of Vision 2020. In its drive to catapult SMEs into
the global arena, the Malaysian Government has introduced numerous viable
initiatives to steer the SMES into the right path.

One such initiative is the SME Week organised
by SME Corp. Malaysia which will once again emerge on 24 - 30 June 2013. The inaugural National SME Week was launched by
the Prime Minister of Malaysia in 2012, exclusively dedicated to recognise the importance
of SMEs as the backbone of the nation’s economy. Spearheaded by SME Corp.
Malaysia, SME Week is held nationwide each year in the 4th week of June, where
all related ministries and agencies align their SME programmes and activities
throughout the week in support of the campaign.

Week 2013 provides a platform for:

  • promoting awareness of SME
    products and services among the public;
  • showcasing products and services from SMEs;
  • dissemination of information; and
  • fostering the culture of entrepreneurship.

This year, the nationwide SME Week 2013,
aptly themed “Small Businesses . Big
Ideas” will incorporate an
interesting cross-section of events ranging from SME Open Days, Pocket Talks,
Information Fiesta, Business Advisory Services, Product Demos, Exhibitions,
Promotions on Shariah Fund to Pasar Tani
Mega and many more. The campaign
is targeting to draw SMEs and the public at large to participate and benefit
from the available business assistance, support, and business creation advisory
services to establish their businesses to affluent enterprises.
