Objective:
YB Datuk Chua Tee Yong, Deputy Minister of International Trade and Industry (Trade) had conducted an exclusive media engagement session on 15 November 2016 at the One Referral Centre (ORC), SME Corp. Malaysia, with two (2) targeted vernacular media namely Sin Chew Daily and China Press. The session was held mainly to highlight to the media the importance of the One Referral Centre as the focal point for the dissemination of relevant information to SMEs, as well as on the SME Competitiveness Rating for Enhancement (SCORE), a diagnostic tool developed in house by SME Corp. Malaysia.
SCORE is used to evaluate and rate the competitiveness of SMEs with the purpose of identifying SMEs’ areas of strengths and weaknesses, so as to recommend measures for improvement to achieve higher levels of performance. SCORE also aims to facilitate partnerships and linkages between high-potential SMEs and large companies and MNCs, and encourage export-ready companies to tap the resources and programmes offered by Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE).
YB Datuk Chua is confident that through media engagements such as this, the media can help to create the much needed awareness among SMEs about the programmes and initiatives offered by MITI and its Agencies, as well as to encourage SMEs to leverage on them to further their development. He hopes that the media can promote the facilities available at the ORC and the benefits of SCORE so that the SMEs can seek the assistance and support from SME Corp. Malaysia for them to grow and expand their businesses not just locally but beyond into international markets.
