Embrace change to survive in Industry 4.0, businesses told

KUCHING: Businesses in Malaysia have to embrace change in order to survive in a world where many industry players in developed countries have moved into the Industry 4.0 sphere.

In pointing this out today, Deputy International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Chua Tee Yong said change is already happening with the utilisation of cyber-physical system.

“Industries in countries like Germany, the United States and to a large extent Japan, are the ones driving this initiative with minimal government intervention.

“Benefits of adopting Industry 4.0 technology by companies are significant,” he said when opening an outreach programme on Industry 4.0 held at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) here.

Chua added that success stories of some companies had shown the world tangible results where adoption of high technology had helped them accomplish increase in productivity, products variation and faster time to market within the first year of adoption.

More than 300 individuals from the public and private sectors are attending the programme organised by the Ministry of International Trade and Industry and SME Corp Malaysia
