KUALA LUMPUR, June 20 (Bernama) -- AmBank today continued its commitment to supporting the growth and development of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in the country with the second session of its BizCONFERENCE Beyond Financing Series entitled ‘Halal Chapter’.
The Beyond Financing Series covers four key topics that are relevant to today’s SMEs, i.e. Internet of Things (IoT), Halal Business, Branding & Digital Marketing and Green Business. Prior to today’s session, the inaugural series entitled ‘Embracing Internet of Things’ was held on 14 May 2019 received encouraging response.
The ‘Halal Chapter’ series featured informative and engaging discussions on the Halal industry with Eqhwan Mokhzanee, Chief Executive Officer, AmBank Islamic, Dato’ Dr Sirajuddin, Director, Malaysia Halal Secretariat, Malaysia’s Islamic Development Department (JAKIM), Mohd Fakarudin Masod, Chief Assistant Director, JAKIM, Hanisofian Alias, Vice President, Industry Development Division, Halal Industry Development Corporation (HDC), Mohd Rithaudden Makip, Chief Ecosystem Development Officer, SME Corporation Malaysia, Dato’ Michael Tio, Chief Executive Director, PKT Logistics Group and Kelvin Ngow, Executive Director, Coffex Coffee (M) Sdn Bhd. The welcoming remarks were delivered by Dato’ Sri Abdul Hamidy Hafiz, Chairman of AmBank Islamic Berhad.
The Beyond Financing Series aims to provide SMEs with an understanding of these crucial topics as well as provide a way to bring forth the needs of SMEs and how industry participants can fuel the growth of local SMEs. The Series will also serve as a networking platform for the SME community, bringing together business owners, subject matter experts and captains of industries.
“It is imperative for the businesses in Malaysia to gain access and penetration into Halal Market, in view of the growing and rapid demand of Halal products globally,” said Dato’ Sulaiman Mohd Tahir, Group Chief Executive Officer, AmBank Group.
“From this Halal Chapter, SMEs can gain insights from industry players to expand their halal businesses locally and globally. Further, the SMEs could understand the Halal certification process and explore funding assistance offered by government agencies,” added Dato’ Sulaiman.
The next two series on Branding & Digital Marketing, People & Culture and Green Business will be held in July 2019.
