KUALA LUMPUR – SME Corporation Malaysia (SME Corp) is organising the Enterprise 50 (E50), an annual award programme which serves as an important barometer for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to benchmark their business performance.

Chief executive officer Rizal Nainy said the E50 award is based on a reliable, impartial, and stringent evaluation conducted by independent industry players and experts.

“The award is vital in the development of SMEs in Malaysia, especially in terms of capacity building, finance, as well as business networking in the domestic and international arenas.

“To date, we have already witnessed the birth of 725 E50 award winners who also expanded their markets both domestically and internationally,” Rizal said in a statement today.

SME Corp will continue to support the E50 alumni as well as potential members of the grouping, he added.

Recipients of the award stand a chance to accelerate their businesses to new heights by being part of the exclusive “E50 Club”, allowing them to enjoy other benefits including participation at international workshops and forums at the invitation of SME Corp and preferred business linkages with multinational corporations.

The nomination process began on March 1, and the winners will be announced in November.

To be eligible, companies must fulfil the criteria including fulfilling the definition of SMEs and being locally incorporated with at least 40% local equity, not being listed on Bursa Malaysia, being rated four stars and above from SCORE by SME Corp, and having three years audited financial records.
