5,000 expected on last day of PKMS Week

 

LAWAS: SME Corporation Malaysia (SME Corp Malaysia) is hosting a Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise (PMKS) Week to raise public awareness and promote PKMS products and services across various industries.

As many as 5,000 visitors are expected to attend by the last day of the PMKS Week tomorrow (July 3).

Held in conjunction with the National Entrepreneur Week, the four-day event is themed “Mula Mendikit, Azam Melangit” to promote the “Sokong Local, Sokong PMKS” campaign.

The state-level event was officiated by Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hassan.

During the event, SME Corp Malaysia handed RM392,000 for the Micro Connector Programme, RM1.33 million for the Bumiputera Youth Entrepreneur Programme (TUBE) and RM1.46 million for the Bumiputera Enterprise Improvement Programme (BEEP).

From the Ministry of International Trade, Industry and Investment Mintred, a RM7,000 cheque was for the Graduate Assistance Scheme (GERAK) and RM60,000 for the Technical and Vocational Entrepreneur Assistance Scheme (USTEV).

Selected entrepreneurs also received a cheque for RM20,000 from the Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation (SDEC) to be used for the Sarawak Go Digital Hardware Assistance Scheme.

Agrobank Lawas Branch granted RM2.347 million through the Sarawak Micro Credit Scheme (SKMS) and RM100,000 from the Malaysian Cooperative Commission for the Cooperative Development Assistance Scheme under the People’s Cooperative Programme (KPR).

Various activities and events were held such as sales booths of more than 60 PMKS entrepreneurs and hawkers in Lawas focusing on food products, handicrafts and farming.

There was also Dapur Sarawak featuring a variety of local cuisine, five series of webinars or Pocket Talks in collaboration with 15 entrepreneurship-related agencies as well as competitions such as Lawas-vaganza, esport and children’s coloring.

Other eye-popping programmes were cooking demonstrations, artist performances and cultural performances by locals.

These activities and events are expected to stimulate the entrepreneurial spirit, as well as open up business opportunities that can help business go to a higher level.
