Serai Malaya Sdn. Bhd. a subsidiary company of Star Medik Group Sdn. Bhd., a medical device manufacturing company. Serai Malaya Sdn. Bhd.; was established as a vehicle to involve the inclusive community especially the village poor, into the value chain of IB through a guaranteed and consistent bulk purchase of lemongrass, at higher than market price under this IB project. Serai Malaya produces various lemongrass-based products such as tea and fine powder for marination, among others.

Throughout this project, Serai Malaya Sdn. Bhd. supervises and guides 50 participants from among five (5) communities to ensure that their crops are of premium quality and will eventually increase the demand for volume of harvest. Serai Malaya Sdn. Bhd. was awarded the ASEAN IB Award 2022 for their excellence and conformance to the IB concept and generating socio-economic impact on people at the Base of the Pyramid (BoP).
