Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) are the largest contributors to the country's economic growth and also catalyse the shaping of nation’s future. Recognising the importance and contribution of SMEs to the country’s economic development and progress, MSME Week is organised nationwide to raise public awareness and promote SME products and services from various industries. Themed “Small Businesses, Big Ideas”, the activities arranged during MSME Week are expected to foster entrepreneurial spirit on an ongoing basis, whilst allowing the discovery of investment opportunities that have the potential to help businesses soar to greater heights.
Objectives
- Recognising the role and contribution of MSMEs to the economy;
- Fostering entrepreneurial culture;
- Enhancing awareness and showcasing MSME products and services; and
- A platform for dissemination of information on financing and MSME development programmes.
Outcomes
- Promote, showcase and highlight MSME products and services to the public and the business community
- Create new business linkages and investment opportunities for MSMEs with large companies both domestic and international, virtually through the MatchMe platform
- Assist MSMEs to access and facilitate financing from financial institutions as well as alternative financial players.
