SEED driving push to uplift Indian entrepreneurs

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 3, 2015:
The Society for Educational and Entrepreneurship Development (SEED), SME Bank and others agencies are identifying high-potential small-scale Indian entrepreneurs who needed financing.

In the 2016 Budget, SME Bank would be allocated RM50 million – to be disbursed to assist small-scale Indian entrepreneurs.
SEED chief executive officer Datuk Dr A. T. Kumararajah said about 38,000 Indian companies had registered with SME Bank, but only 3,493 or 10% of them were considered high-potential companies.

“The Performance Management and Delivery Unit and SME Corp are also involved in identifying the high-potential companies for the funding,” he said after attending a briefing on the “Get Your Biz Online” programme here.

At the event, SEED launched the SEED mobile application for Indian entrepreneurs to co-assist their business and assail their business to greater heights. The app can be downloaded for free from App Store (iOS) or Play Store (Android).

Meanwhile, Malaysia Associated Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry chairman Tan Sri K. Kenneth Eswaran said that it is crucial for the Indian business community to use Internet as a platform to shore up their marketing campaign.

“Through the Internet, entrepreneurs can open business round the clock without worrying about its opening hours or staff overtime payment.”
Set up under the Prime Minister s Department, SEED spearheads, stimulates and coordinates Indian entrepreneurial participation in the mainstream of the country’s economic activities.

Since 2012, SEED has assisted 24,526 Indian entrepreneurs in securing loans of RM717 million and trained over 3,500 Indian entrepreneurs through SEED training series.
