Lazada Malaysia Launches #EveryoneCanSell Programme through Consolidated Partnership across Industries

This consolidated eCommerce programme will encompass partners such as SME Corp Malaysia, Companies Commission of Malaysia, Malayan Banking Berhad and Telekom Malaysia Berhad to address the needs of over 900,000 SMEs in the country

KUALA LUMPUR, 13 September 2017 – Leading e-commerce platform, Lazada Malaysia, today announced the launch of the #EveryoneCanSell Programme, an end-to-end, fully integrated eCommerce programme to further spur the growth of local Small and Medium Enterprises (SME). Through a consolidated collaboration with SME Corp, Companies Commission of Malaysia (Suruhanjaya Syarikat Malaysia or SSM), Malayan Banking Berhad (Maybank) and Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM), Lazada Malaysia aims to attract over 50,000 merchants onto its platform by 2018.

Sellers who come onboard the #EveryoneCanSell Programme will enjoy full access to eCommerce training, easier business registration, enhanced internet connectivity with online tools and solutions, as well as financial support through loan financing and exclusive merchant accounts. These sellers will be supported closely at every stage of their business with the recommended solutions by the various partners.

Y.B. Datuk Haji Ahmad Haji Maslan, Deputy Minister of International Trade and Industry (MITI) at Malaysia’s biggest e-commerce event, Lazada’s E-Commerce Seller Conference 2017 said, “With digitalisation disrupting businesses, SMEs’ adoption of technology has taken on an even greater urgency than ever before. As Malaysia continues its path towards becoming a fully digital economy, businesses here must continue their evolution to be a part of it. Thus, having e-commerce market leaders such as Lazada Malaysia to help SMEs continue their online growth, will greatly assist in realising the Government’s aim of doubling the e-commerce growth from 10.8% to 20.8% by 2020.”

Datuk Haji Ahmad Haji Maslan also added that the SME sector remains an important pillar of Malaysia’s economy as they contribute almost 36% to the gross domestic product (GDP). He mentioned that the #EveryoneCanSell Programme will be able to prepare SMEs with the right ecosystem to compete globally through the Digital Free Trade Zone which was recently launched this year.

“Our strategic partnership with esteemed companies and agencies in Malaysia will further enhance our support for SMEs in the areas of productivity, innovation and capability upgrading. We hope to boost SMEs’ capabilities when they capitalise on #EveryoneCanSell’s holistic digital ecosystem, so they remain competitive online. This programme will also be a great training ground for local businesses to upgrade themselves with the right tools and skills required for our upcoming campaign of the year in November, Online Revolution 2017,” said Hans-Peter Ressel, Chief Executive Officer of Lazada Malaysia.
