KUALA LUMPUR, 6 February 2020 – Enterprise Asia, the leading regional association of entrepreneurs, is set to establish the Enterprise Asia Center for Entrepreneurship at HELP University here.
The Enterprise Asia Center for Entrepreneurship will serve to accelerate the growth of entrepreneurs in Malaysia and across Asia through evidence-based industry best practices, curation of transferrable framework for shared values practices, and aggregation of innovation and innovative practices.
Signing the memorandum of understanding between the two organisations were Dato’ William Ng, president of Enterprise Asia, and Professor Datuk Dr Paul Chan, Vice-Chancellor of HELP University. Tan Sri Dr Fong Chan Onn, chairman of Enterprise Asia and Datin Chan-Low Kam Yoke, Group CEO of HELP Education Group were also present.
The partnership was announced at the Chinese New Year open house of Enterprise Asia, which was attended, among others, by YB Dr. Ong Kian Ming, Deputy Minister of International Trade and Industry; Noor Azmi Mat Said, CEO of SME Corporation Malaysia; Sharimahton Mat Saleh, Deputy CEO of Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE); and Dzuleira Abu Bakar, CEO of the Malaysian Global Innovation and Creativity Centre (MaGIC).
Corporate leaders in attendance at the open house also included Kamarul Ariffin Mohd Jamil, Group CEO of Affin Bank Berhad; Datuk N. Gobalakrishnan, President of the Malaysian Associated Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry; Dato’ Robert Teo, Managing Partner of RSM Malaysia; Dennis Martin, Group CEO of CTOS Systems Sdn Bhd, Dang Tai Luk of myNEWS Holdings Berhad; and Pham Quoc Anh, Vietnam’s trade counsellor to Malaysia.
“The establishment of the Enterprise Asia Center for Entrepreneurship (EACfE) is a natural progression for us. Since 2007, we have been at the forefront of championing responsible entrepreneurship through our four pillars of democratising entrepreneurship, institutionalising sustainability, empowering innovation and accelerating growth. The EACfE will take these responsibilities and connect Malaysian entrepreneurs to best practices in the world across the spectrum of entrepreneurship, innovation and sustainability”, Ng said.
“The greatest challenge for entrepreneurs is not in obtaining the greatest return-on-investment. Instead, it is in getting the best return-on-time. We are living today in a world where disruptive innovation is the order of the day. In this new paradigm, speed is of the essence. Given the limited resources available to every entrepreneur and every business, entrepreneurs must aim for the greatest return on time. The Enterprise Asia Center for Entrepreneurship at HELP University will deliver the right knowledge and industry-driven research to the business community, while serving as one-stop incubation center for up and coming start-ups and entrepreneur. This will be a game changer,” said Vice-Chancellor Chan of HELP University.
