SME Corp Malaysia has approved RM17.6 million in financial aid for 3,759 micro, small, and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Sarawak since 2021. This initiative aims to support the development and competitiveness of local businesses.
Among the beneficiaries, 250 youth entrepreneurs received RM3.5 million under the Bumiputera Youth Entrepreneur Development Programme (TUBE), which encourages young people to venture into entrepreneurship. Additionally, 39 Sarawak-based PMKS received RM6.2 million in financial assistance under the Bumiputera Enterprise Enhancement Programme (BEEP 2.0).
SME Corp Malaysia has also implemented the Mikro Madani Programme, launched in 2023, benefiting 408 micro-enterprises in Sarawak with a total of RM4.6 million in grants and loans. The programme includes several key initiatives such as micro-business grants and financing, youth micro-business grants, and status certification for PMKS.
In addition to financial aid, Sarawak PMKS have actively participated in the Business Accelerator Programme (BAP), which received RM3 million in approval, and non-financial assistance programmes like the Business Entrepreneur Development Programme (BizME) and the Rating & Accreditation Programme (SRA).
CEO of SME Corp. Malaysia Rizal bin Datuk Nainy expressed the agency’s goal to extend benefits to more Sarawak PMKS in 2025, aligning with the MADANI Economy framework.
Rizal noted, “The Mikro Madani Programme is a game-changer for micro-enterprises, offering holistic support to help them scale and succeed.”

“We are seeing strong participation in our programmes, and it’s encouraging to see Sarawak PMKS leverage these opportunities,” Rizal remarked.
Looking ahead, Rizal highlighted the agency’s plans for 2025, saying, “We aim to extend even more support to Sarawak’s PMKS, further contributing to the vision of a more sustainable and inclusive economy as outlined in the MADANI framework.”
SME Corp Malaysia also launched an online application system, MyBPI, to facilitate the application process for PMKS. Rizal added, “MyBPI has proven to be a valuable tool in simplifying and streamlining the application process, and we’re proud to have it recognised as one of the successful reform initiatives under the MADANI Government’s efforts.” -- Business Today
